How to see who screenshotted your public Snapchat story?

I recently posted a Public Story on Snapchat and noticed in my Insights that the screenshot count went up, but I can't figure out exactly who took the screenshot. I've already tried swiping up on the Story to check the viewer list. While I know that the double-arrow icon usually appears next to a friend's name if they screenshot a regular Snap, I can't seem to find any names or indicators for the people who aren't on my friends list.

Snapchat hides the identities of non-friends who screenshot public stories. To always see who screenshots, change your privacy settings to My Friends or use a Private Story.

Unfortunately, Snapchat won't tell you exactly who screenshotted your Public Story. While Insights show the total screenshot count, the app keeps non-friends completely anonymous for privacy. You'll only get that double-arrow alert if a mutual friend takes a snap!

When you post to a Public Profile, your analytics track two different types of viewers:
  • Non-Friends (Anonymous): If a stranger or someone you don't follow back takes a screenshot, your total screenshot count goes up in your Insights, but Snapchat will never reveal their username. They do not appear in your viewer list at all.
  • Mutual Friends (Visible): The familiar overlapping-arrow icon will only appear next to the names of your actual mutual friends if they screenshot the story.
Because public profiles are designed for broader reach, Snapchat allows non-friends to browse and screenshot without exposing their identities. There is currently no setting or workaround to reveal who those anonymous screenshotters are.

Check Public Story's insights on their app by opening their Public Story and swiping up.

For content that meets certain criteria Snapchat will produce a count of the screenshots for eligible content, but screen-shotting does not automatically mean it captured all screenshots that have been taken.

If you guess, whether somebody saved your Public Story, you simply check the insights of your Story by opening it and swiping up.

Depending on the version you're using, you can view various sorts of information on the screenshots using Snapchat. I would not get any kinds of third-party applications that say they can get the recorders unless someone has published an article.

I wouldn't use third-party applications that claim they can get the recorders, as they might not be able to or, if they can, could compromise your account.
