How to fix Discord not opening?

That grey screen is usually a stubborn cache issue! First, force-quit Discord completely using Task Manager (or Activity Monitor on Mac). If it still hangs when you reopen, press Win+R, type %appdata%, find the Discord folder, and delete the Cache folder. A quick reinstall is your next best bet.
 
  • Force Quit: End Discord via Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac). Verify it is fully closed when the system tray icon disappears.
  • Clear Cache: Press Win+R, type %appdata%\discord, and delete the "Cache" folder. Verify it is removed by checking your Recycle Bin.
  • Restart App: Reopen Discord. Verify this step was successful if your chat interface loads instead of the grey screen.
