How to clear YouTube cache?

My YouTube app has been running really slowly lately and sometimes freezes while I’m watching videos. Someone suggested that clearing the cache might help. How do I clear the YouTube cache?
 
If you have an Android device:
  • Go to Settings > Apps > YouTube
  • Tap Storage & cache
  • Hit "Clear cache" (NOT clear storage)
  • Reopen YouTube and see if it's smoother

  • For Android: Settings → Apps → YouTube → Storage → Clear cache.
  • For iPhone/iPad: iOS doesn’t offer a direct “clear cache” button. Delete YouTube and reinstall it from the App Store.
Don’t worry! Your account and subscriptions won’t be deleted.
 
Hey! If you're watching via a smart TV or browser, try this:
TV: Check Settings > Apps > YouTube > Clear cache
Browser: Clear browsing data for that site specifically
 
Don't clear the cache constantly. The cache is meant to make the process faster, and hence clearing it daily will only slow down the video. To see if it's a cache problem or any other issue, try the incognito or private window.
