How to change your age on TikTok?

My friend recently discovered that the date of birth associated with his TikTok account is incorrect. I’ve looked through his profile settings but can’t find an option to edit it. Is there another way to update the age?
 
Typically, TikTok prevents users from editing the birth date in profile settings. As an alternative, to change it, you may need to go to your Profile, opt for Settings and privacy, pick the Report a problem option and explain your situation.
 
TikTok doesn’t currently provide a normal setting to directly edit your date of birth. Your friend should contact TikTok through Profile, Menu, Settings and privacy, Report a problem, and then explain that the birth date on the account is incorrect.
 
TikTok's gotten strict about the age change since it ties into age-restricted features, so it's not an instant fix. You have to submit a request explaining the correct birthdate. They'll likely ask for an ID to verify it.
 
TikTok locks your birthdate once you set it during sign-up. You can't just go into settings and edit it like your bio or username. Even if time-consuming, reporting a problem is the best solution.
 
You can't change the DOB when you submit the submission since it would not be COPPA compliant or it would not be safe in certain regions.

The only workaround is an asynchronous ticket via the support pipeline:

Settings and Privacy > Report a Problem > Topics > Account & Profile > Editing Profile > Other > Need More Help?

Start an inquiry process to change a DOB. Support bot creates a link to an on-screen Zendesk portal, on which you upload a government ID (driver's licence or passport) as proof of date of birth.

It will take 48-72 hours to verify.
 
Although you have the option to add a birth date to your profile, TikTok will not allow you to make edits to your birth date after it has been set.

It can be updated by going to your Profile, tapping the three line menu, and then Settings and privacy > Report a problem.

After this, you can choose Account and profile and editing profile and finally you can select ‘Other'.

Click the 'Need more help?' button and write some words describing the difficulty that your birthday is wrong.

To verify your true age, you'll have to submit a photo of a valid government ID or passport for support to update it.
