Does Instagram notify you when you take a screenshot?

I was wondering if Instagram notifies the person if I take a screenshot of their profile or story? I don't want to follow the person, but I like some of their posts which I want to save without them noticing.

No, Instagram doesn't send any notifications if you take screenshots of profile pictures, grid images, story, etc. However, if you are chatting with that person and happen to take a screenshot of an image they sent you with limited view access, you both are notified in the chat that a screenshot has been taken.

Depends on what you are taking a screenshot of. If it's a profile picture, story, or a post - NO. You or the other person doesn't get any notifications. But when it comes to something like DM messages in Vanish mode or an image with 1-time view access, yes, Instagram does send a notification.

Mostly no! Posts, Stories, and normal DMs are safe. But it will notify for disappearing photos or Vanish Mode messages!

I actually tested this after freaking out over an accidental screenshot!

Instagram won't notify anyone if you screenshot stories, grid posts, or reels. The only time they ever get an alert is if you screenshot a vanishing photo or video sent directly in DMs.

• Regular posts, reels & normal stories: No notification at all.
• Vanishing photos/videos in DMs: Yes, the sender gets an alert.
• Vanish mode chats: Yes, screenshotting triggers an alert.
