Can you see who shared your Instagram post?

Hey everyone,
I noticed my post has several shares, and I’m trying to figure out if there's any legit way to see who specifically shared it. I've checked my post insights, but what I run into is that I can see the total number under the paper plane icon in Insights, but tapping it does nothing.

Unfortunately, you can't see exactly who shared your post via direct message. Instagram keeps that anonymous for privacy reasons. The share icon in Insights only shows the total count. If someone reshares it to their Story, you might see that under View Story Reshares, but post shares stay hidden!

No, you cannot see who all shared your Instagram post. Instagram doesn't allow it; it just gives numbers. Please don't try to use any third-party apps to check this because doing so can lead to a permanent ban from Instagram. The rest is upto you.

When people re-post on their public Story, you can see who took the action!

Click on the three dots on your post and select 'View Story Reshares'.

Instagram, however, doesn't keep it anonymous when they send it to someone in a private DM chat.

Share visibility like this:

  • On Creator/Business accounts, follow your post with the 3 dots and then tap ‘View Story Reshares’ (available for 24 hours).
  • Share Counts: You can view how many times your post has been shared by viewing ‘View Insights' below your post.
IG: "Instagram does not provide info on who comments your post on private direct messages.
