Can I see deleted messages on Instagram?

[ReubenMarlowe]

Hey everyone,

I accidentally swiped and deleted an entire DM thread on Instagram, and it had some really important information in it. I checked the "Recently Deleted" folder under my account settings, but it looks like that only works for Posts, Reels, and Stories, not direct messages. Is there any way I can see deleted messages?

Unfortunately, Instagram doesn't have a trash bin for DMs. Once deleted, they are permanently removed from your side of the app. However, the other person still has the entire thread! For example, if you deleted your chat with Alex, simply message Alex and ask them to screenshot the important info.
