How do you read a smart meter with A and B buttons?

Does anyone know how to get an electricity reading from a smart meter with A and B buttons? I’ve tried pressing them but don’t want to accidentally change any settings.

Usually, pressing the A button just cycles through the display screens, while B is used to select or confirm. For a reading, try pressing A briefly until you see the meter reading. Avoid holding either button down or pressing B unless the screen specifically asks you to.

Press A repeatedly to cycle through screens until you see one showing kWh. That should be your reading. Press B to go back. No worries, these buttons just navigate and won't change any settings.

Usually, you’re safe to press the buttons, just don’t hold them down. On most A/B-button smart meters, A helps in display readings. B is often for other menus/settings, so you can simply leave it alone.

Last winter we changed over our energy supplier and as an urgent meter reading I had to do all of this! Press 1 time or repeatedly on A button until the screen turns on and cycles to 'Credit ON' or 'Total Import'. After the number is found, followed by 'kWh' (or 'm3' H2) write down the main numbers (no decimal – they are added in after you hit there). If you overpass any screens by pressing B they will jump back to the previous screens.
