How to convert a YouTube video to mp3 legally?

I prefer searching for a free YouTube video downloader on Google. You'll find many options. Just visit any; they all work the same. Next, I copy and paste the link to the YouTube video into the downloader and hit Enter. Once the video is downloaded, I again search for a video-to-MP3 converter online and put the downloaded video into it and download the MP3 it provides.

There is no legal way of downloading a YouTube video unless it is yours or you have the license to it. If you have the rights, simply copy the link, put it in an online YouTube video converter and download the MP3 format.

If it’s a video you own or have permission to use, the easiest route is to get the original audio file from the rights holder or use YouTube’s own download features where available. I wouldn’t recommend random “YouTube-to-MP3” sites, cause they can be sketchy. Downloading copyrighted music without permission can violate the rights holder’s terms.

If you have permission to use the music, there are a couple of easy options:
  • Best option: Download the song from an official source that offers MP3 downloads.
  • If you already have the video file: Use a media converter such as VLC to extract the audio and save it as an MP3.
If it’s someone else’s copyrighted video, YouTube generally doesn’t provide a way to export it directly as an MP3. So, getting the audio from the rights holder is the safer option.
