How to change your age on TikTok?

My friend recently discovered that the date of birth associated with his TikTok account is incorrect. I’ve looked through his profile settings but can’t find an option to edit it. Is there another way to update the age?
 
Typically, TikTok prevents users from editing the birth date in profile settings. As an alternative, to change it, you may need to go to your Profile, opt for Settings and privacy, pick the Report a problem option and explain your situation.
 
TikTok doesn’t currently provide a normal setting to directly edit your date of birth. Your friend should contact TikTok through Profile, Menu, Settings and privacy, Report a problem, and then explain that the birth date on the account is incorrect.
 
TikTok's gotten strict about the age change since it ties into age-restricted features, so it's not an instant fix. You have to submit a request explaining the correct birthdate. They'll likely ask for an ID to verify it.
 
TikTok locks your birthdate once you set it during sign-up. You can't just go into settings and edit it like your bio or username. Even if time-consuming, reporting a problem is the best solution.
