How can I fix Discord phone errors?

I'm trying to verify my Discord account by linking my phone number, but it keeps giving me an error and won't let me complete the process. I have already tried the basics, like restarting the app, double-checking my country code, and making sure I'm not typing the number in wrong, but I'm still stuck.

This mostly happens if your number is prepaid or VOIP. Discord generally blocks these numbers. Another possibility is that it might also be linked to an old alternate account, or you're temporarily rate-limited due to too many attempts. Wait 24 hours and try a standard carrier number. You'll know it worked when the SMS arrives instantly.

To sort Discord mobile verification errors, first ensure you are using the +44 dialling code and dropping the leading '0' from your number. Make sure it isn't a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) SIM or tied to an old account. If it still plays up, try clearing your app cache.

Discord usually rejects VOIP or pay-as-you-go numbers, so make sure you're using a standard mobile contract. Discord strictly allows one number per profile. Try logging in using your phone number instead of your email, then delete it from that old account.

If you're getting a phone-number error, check to see what it says.
If it indicates that your number has already been registered, then that number is associated with another Discord account and you must remove it from that one.

Be sure to use a correct mobile phone number, based on your country.

Discord doesn't accept landline or VoIP numbers for this process. If it still doesn't work, contact Discord Support.

There are many kind of errors that might occur in the process. For example, if Discord says that your phone number already exists, then you've might have used that phone number for another Discord account.

Another common error is that when Discord states that the number is invalid. In that case you need to double check the country code and verify that you are using a standard mobile phone number. You'll also have to check and update Discord and restart the app before attempting it again.

If the above does not work, Discord urges you to contact them through their support team message.

If Discord is telling you that it has a phone-number error you should first try to check what is it saying. If it says that someone else is already registered with that number, then you have another Discord account with that number and will have to delete the one in the other account.

Please note – correct cell phone number for country is required. This is not possible with a landline or VoIP phone number and Discord. If it continues to not work, you can reach out to Discord Support.
