Why can't I follow people on TikTok?

Every time I try to follow someone, I get a message saying "Couldn't follow" or "Try again later." My internet is working fine for everything else. Why can't I follow people on TikTok?
 
Most likely, TikTok has temporarily blocked you from following others. This might have been due to following too many people in a short time. Just wait for a while and try again.
 
There might be some kind of restriction. Check TikTok → Settings → Account → Account status for what kind of restriction you are under.
 
Probably a temporary rate limit or spam flag from following too many people too fast. Wait 24 hours, update the app, or log out and back in.
 
If it's for every account, it's probably a temporary limit, so just give it 24 hours. If it's only certain accounts, they might've blocked you.
