How to stream Netflix on Discord?

You can enjoy Netflix watch-along with your friends via Discord. But if you just try to share your screen right now, they will likely only see a black screen while hearing the audio. This happens because Netflix uses DRM protection, which prevents screen capturing when your browser's Hardware Acceleration is turned on. Here is what you need to do:

  • Open your web browser's settings. If you use Chrome, go to Settings > System and toggle off "Use hardware acceleration when available." In Edge, it's under Settings > System and performance.
  • Your browser will prompt you to relaunch for the change to take effect. Once it restarts, open Netflix and get your movie or show ready.
  • Join a voice channel in Discord and click the Share Your Screen icon (the monitor with an arrow) in the bottom left corner.
  • And finally, when the screen share menu pops up, click the Applications tab (or Window Capture) and select your specific browser window running Netflix. If you select "Entire Screen," your friends won't hear any audio.
