I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to use Discord on my PS5 so I can voice chat with friends playing on PC and other consoles, but I'm a bit confused about how the integration actually works.

Before the recent updates, it was quite difficult to do this. But now you can just link your Discord account in your PS5 settings under Users and Accounts, then go to Linked Services. Then click the PS button, open Game Base, select the Discord tab, pick your voice channel, and hit Join.

Firstly, you need to make sure that you have linked your Discord account to your PSN account.
To connect discord to PlayStation 5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Linked Services > Discord and follow the steps on the screen.
After connecting, open a Discord voice channel and select either the option to transfer or join the voice channel on PS5.

This can be helpful when your friends don't use PlayStation Party, as you can put them in voice chat on Discord while you're playing on your PS5. The first step in doing so is to connect your Discord and PlayStation accounts.
Once you have done that, you can then head to a Discord voice channel and move the voice chat to PS5. When it's connected, you're able to play as usual and chat with people using your headset.

Once you connect with the accounts it's rather convenient. Connect Discord to PSN, join the voice channel you wish to communicate with and move the conversation to your PS5. After that, you won't have to do the same thing and check your phone for Discord anymore.

2. Use the QR code shown on the screen on your computer or mobile phone to log in with your Discord account.
3. When you have all of them connected, press the PS button on the controller to access the Control Centre.
4. Click Game Base, move to Discord and join the voice channel of your choosing.
The ratio of game and chat sound can be customized right inside the game.

Sony has updated the PS5 Discord integration from a legacy mobile-app handoff to a top-notch PS5 client.
If there are other players in the same server or user, ensure that they also have the latest firmware installed, and then sign in with OAuth:
Settings > Users and Accounts > Linked Services > Discord.
After successful authentication, press the PS button on DualSense > on the Game Base screen, press the Discord tab.

We would once place our phone on a couch cushion to get to chat with other players on Discord during crossplay multiplayer games on PS!
Fortunately, Sony got direct integration. Make sure to connect your PlayStation Network account to Discord by signing in to Discord and then heading to the Users and Accounts section under Linked Services.
First of all connect your PlayStation Network account to Discord through Settings > Users and Accounts > Linked Services.
It is now 100% seamless — simply press the PS button on your DualSense controller, open Game Base, tap the Discord tab, then choose your server's voice room and you will find yourself chatting straight into your headset.
