Is TikTok back after the recent outage or ban rumours?

Hi! Can anyone clarify what happened with TikTok recently? I couldn’t access the app for a while, and social media was full of rumours about bans. Is TikTok officially back online now?

Yes, TikTok appears to be back online and working normally right now. Current outage trackers aren’t showing a widespread problem. The ban rumours are mostly tied to the U.S. TikTok issue. The U.S. app briefly went offline, but it returned shortly afterwards.

Yes, TikTok is back and operating normally. Current outage trackers show no outage in the UK or globally. So, the recent issues don’t appear to be a new TikTok ban. If it’s still not working for you, it may be a local problem.

TikTok’s latest disruption to services in the U.S. was simply due to a technical fault, not an extension of the TikTok ban that already existed. The problem has been sorted out now, and TikTok is fully operational once again.

The U.S. has had some legitimate outages on TikTok however, the outage is not equivalent to a fresh ban.

TikTok stated in the March incident that it was dealing with a problem in its Oracle data centre. Therefore, rumours should not be considered as confirmation of yet another ban.

If you're talking about the planned TikTok shutdowns in the U.S. in 2026, then there have been a number of times it's actually gone offline, but they don't have to be mistaken for a nationwide ban.

According to TikTok, the data-center problem impacted some of its U.S. experience, especially posting, in March 2026.
